| Abstract | The blockchain has emerged as a promising technology to develop diverse applications. It has recently gained significant research interest both from academia and industry, mostly due to the cryptocurrencies’ hype and success. One aspect of the technology is rarely discussed: the cryptography underpinning blockchain is vulnerable to attacks by quantum computers. This paper examines the vulnerabilities of classical blockchain technology manifested by quantum computers’ development and explores the new research directions towards quantum blockchain design. |
