Abstract The Internet of things (IoT) is the networks of interconnected thing or object. IoT Devices generate huge data so traditional database systems are not capable to manage the big data of IoT applications. The applications of IoT such as smart city, smart home, smart cars and retail, smart grid, digital health, smart industry, and smart agriculture have sensors, actuators that generate huge data so there need for databases to store and manage IoT data. Industrial IoT is used in industries that also producing huge data in their smart environments. There is need for a research study of databases which capable of IoT Data management. Different databases have been used to manage IoT Data. The Relational Database Management System and NoSQL database are mostly used for IoT applications. Open source and commercial database covered in this paper. Relational databases store data in relations or tables while NoSQL databases store data in key-value pairs. This paper concentrate on a comparative study of various database open source and commercial which used for IoT applications.
